good morning.

BOO

  • a close Hegseth aide has been put on leave during a leak investigation, demonstrating just how jumpy Cabinet members are in the aftermath of the Signal chat debacle. they’ll do anything but address that failure head on.

  • in a world that suddenly places so much emphasis on wellness and, more specifically, the ‘rituals’ that claim to promote wellness, it is natural to wonder whether relevant regulations and necessary safety parameters are being put into place at the same rate. this incident yesterday would seem to suggest they are not: a 29 year old woman died and another is in the ICU after a nitrogen leak in a Paris gym’s cryotherapy chamber.

YESS

  • using naturally occurring hormones, scientists in a recent study suggest they can slow visible signs of aging like gray hair.

  • on that note, Vogue Business is exploring what we will look like in 2045, considering a number of variables: dental work, skincare technology, the rise of conservatism and its aesthetics to come to a conclusion.

  • member of the Social Democrats party in Denmark’s Parliament wrote an opinion piece where she articulates why the current American administration’s claims Denmark is a poor ally have “stunned and stung” Danes. her voice is a patient one at a time when much of the discourse surrounding our political landscape is emotionally charged. she references troops sent to fight in American wars, discusses the impact of the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the continent, and even acknowledges Europe’s underinvestment in security.

  • a Pierre Hermé egg hunt is being launched in Paris today and tomorrow. participants will have to assemble a piece from the pâtisserie’s recent collection, hidden around Opéra, to win a (chocolate) reward.

MONEY

  • today, Asian stocks are sliding on concerns of Trump’s turbulent trade policies.

  • Nvidia stock fell nearly 5% in after hours trading following a filing in which the tech corporation said it anticipates a quarterly charge of up to $5.5bn to export its chips to China. the instance underscores the atmosphere of volatility and overall unpredictability generated by a trade war.

MIAM

  • the 30 best restaurants in Paris, according to The Telegraph have been published. I feel like I should do some boots on the ground reporting on some of these for you.

  • the other day I went to Fauna to see if the hype really was worth it. yes, I found it lovely and recommend the spot for an afternoon coffee. but you can miss the cardamom roll without FOMO… they need to either add a leavening agent or decrease their flour input because that puppy was way too dense, like cake.

  • yesterday, Eater published a ‘report’ on martini consumption in NYC. a gin martini with olives is the most popular order (wrong) and the most fucked up orders include mezcal martinis and a “filthy vodka martini mocktail” (help). based on orders at Le Dive and The Hotel Chelsea, people like their martinis diiiiirty.

SCREENS

  • Nathan Fielder’s notoriously hard watch The Rehearsal is coming back 20 April. I’m sick just thinking about it.

BOP

  • “Before You I Just Forget” and “Starburster” with a cover of David Lynch’s “In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song)” by Fontaines DC.

have a nice day ★
