BOO

  • the FT’s Rules for Modern Dining are nothing novel, and here’s the issue with that: people who are reading the Financial Times in their leisure are not the same people who must be told things like “you can ask for things to be taken off your plate, but not to have things put on it.” if one is to make a rulebook for something like eating, it must be full of thoughtful (revelatory) insight. otherwise, don’t busy the airwaves with platitudes.

    • in the same breath, I’d like to bring up the bossiness of restaurants, ie: What it’s all about. Noble Rot tackles the question in its most recent edition, coming down ultimately in favor of restaurants laying out on their site exactly what to expect from them and who they don’t want you to be.

  • the Trump administration group chat was breached, or, more accurately, Pete Hegseth accidentally added a journalist to it. very this Veep scene. where on earth is Tulsi ?

YESS

  • after closing during covid and a $220mn renovation, the Frick is set to reopen in April.

  • the mini totes from Trader Joe’s that everybody lost their minds over will be back next month.

  • more than one hundred large Easter eggs decorated by various artists have been hidden around London. people can collect the eggs in an app which will also award them prizes.

  • Tavares Strachan’s solo exhibition “Starless Midnight” at Marian Goodman Gallery looks really cool.

LIT

  • David Sheff’s biography about Yoko Ono, Yoko, is out today. critics allege it’ll shift your perspective on the lady who broke the Beatles up.

  • Tilt, Emma Pattee’s witty and sensitive debut novel is out today too.

MIAM

  • seven artificial food dyes have been banned in West Virginia.

WEEKEND DREAMING

because sometimes you need to dream about the weekend to get through Tuesday, here are some things to consider adding to your plan for the time off that awaits you.

  • finding a really good burger and destroying it. also, @vinepair’s 2025 Martini Madness bracket is making me long for both NYC and a martini.

  • new flowers.

  • trying a sarrasin cookie at Bréton-owned bakery Gonflé.

BOP

  • the MJ Lenderman version of “Dancing in the Club.” (!!!) (fact checked).

  • “Soft Core” by Le Keep and Coração No Mar by Manu Chao both came out 21 March but I missed them.

  • lots of upcoming The Dare. a Brutalismus collab- I can’t tell if it’s a “Goodbye Salò” remix or a new song called “C’est La Vie.” and a new solo song called “Cheeky.”

Have a good day ★
